On May 5th, The students who had been to Austria presented the topics they had worked with in Austria to students at the school. 

They used the presentations and leaflets made in Austria and told the other students about their experiences from Austria.

Here are three articles from local newspaper about the SIFA project and the trip to Austria.

2 classes from HAK Ybbs received prizes for their participation in the "24 Hour Challenge without Mobile/Internet". Class 2AK had the highest percentage of students handing in their mobiles, 1BK provided the most and by far best feedbacks. Overall, the participation in this challenge was unexpectedly high; awareness concerning our addictions on mobiles and internet has definitely been increased!

On the 23rd of December 2014 students presented their work in Austria and other matters relevant to Safe Internet For All, thus decalring the day an unofficial SIFA day.

Students even prepared and played an small act inspired by the work done in Austria.

Μια ομάδα 4 μαθητών του 2ου ΓΕΛ Κω επισκέφτηκε ένα ακόμη Δημοτικό σχολείο (το 2ο Δημοτικό σχολείο Κω), προκειμένου να παρουσιάσει στους μικρούς μαθητές τα αποτελέσματα της εργασίας τους για τον ψηφιακό εθισμό και ειδικότερα τα θέματα που χειρίστηκαν οι μαθητές κατά την επίσκεψη της Αυστρίας για το πρόγραμμα SIFA.

Ήταν μια πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα και εκπαιδευτική εμπειρία για όλους. 

This is the slide presentation about SIFA and the meeting in Ybbs an der Donau, Austria, made by the Swedish team. The presentation has been shown to all the students at the Fridagymansiet college as well as to almost two hundred pupils aged 14-15 at the Fridaskolan schools in the neighbouring towns of Vänersborg and Trollhättan.

“24 hour challenge without Internet and/or mobile phone”

On Tuesday, 9^th February 2015, students from the commercial college in Ybbs on the Danube took part in the 24 hour challenge. This meant that the participants avoided the Internet for 24 hours, half of them handed in their mobile phones which were then locked away.
Those who did not hand in their mobiles had to document the number and quality of all the messages they got during these 24 hours (text, mail, WhatsApp); those who had given away their phones wrote a short report about their experiences. Six classes took part, representing at around 150 students; half of them handed in their mobiles voluntarily.

This is extracts from the reports they provided:

“Personally, I would say not having my phone with me 24/7 didn’t change anything. “

“I was very bored without my phone and constantly thought about getting it back the next day.”

“Not having my phone with me all the time got me thinking on how many times a day I actually use my phone.”

“I get to socialize more.”

“I constantly had the feeling of missing something.”

“It is quite satisfying that nobody can ask stupid questions via message.”

“I felt like something was missing.”

“No distraction when you try to be productive.”

“I never knew what time it was because I usually look at my phone to check the time.”

“More focus on the important things.”

The group of students not handing in their phones received an average of 33 messages per day, of which they classified 23% as important and 77% as unimportant. .

The challenge was carried out in connection with the European Erasmus+ K1 project “Safe Internet For All”, www.sifaplus.eu

As an activity after our visit in Austria we had planned to og one day of school without internet access. While we were planning this Mother nature took over and sent a storm to the western coast of Norway. This was a big storm and many in our region lost power and internet connection because of the storm, and some were without internet access for days.

The swedish team going to Austria were interviewed of the local newspapaer ttela. We explained what the project is about and what the students are going to work with during their trip to Austria. The students mentioned that they have quite high expactations of the meeting which includes the international perspectiv of the project. Finally the students are really looking forward to travel down to the continent...  

29 January 2015, over 300 pupils aged 11-16 from Trollhättan and Vänersborg attended the SIFA day in Vänersborg with lectures by Stig Roland Rask. The daytime activities were followed by a parental evening with a two hour lecture on Youth and the Internet.

Μαθητές του 2ου ΓΕΛ Κω συζητήσανε και παρουσίασαν σε μαθητές άλλων σχολείων εργασία για το θέμα του διαδικτυακού εθισμού.

Η παρουσίαση που ακολουθεί έγινε σε μαθητές του 4ου Δημοτικού σχολείου Κω και παρουσιάστηκε και στην ειδική ημερίδα που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο 2ο ΓΕΛ Κω τη Δευτέρα 23/12/2014. Η συζήτηση που ακολούθησε μετά την παρουσίαση είχε πολύ ενδιαφέρον:

On 15th January 2015 there was held a parents’meeting in Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace im. P.Skargi in Grojec, Poland. During the meeting in the assembly hall the parents and teachers could watch a presentation on ‘Safe Internet For All’ project in the framework of Erasmus+ project. The audience were informed about all the work that has been done by the project participants, the products of the project and the follow-up steps to be taken. The lecture given by the Polish coordinator was both informative and educational. We aimed at making the parent aware of the problems the unwise use of the internet might cause and helping them deal with the possible obstacles. The problems mentioned were as follows: Internet addictions such as excessive use of the Internet, on-line gambling and excessive on-line gaming as well as health problems such as insomnia, obesity, back and eyesight problems and lack of social relationships. Apart from that the parents were also informed about other projects run by the school. One of the topics covered was health matters and safety on roads. The presentation was supported by a city police officer and health organization representative.
